Achilles Tendon Care Kit Combines the Four Fundamentals of Healing.

Freeze Sleeve: Cold and compression two to three times a day is a proven therapy for Achilles Tendonitis. Freeze Sleeve combines cold compression with a highly flexible Hydro Gel that contours to you for comfort and movement ensuring you are not stuck on the couch.

Aircast Airheel: To allow the inflamed area of the Achilles to rest you must force the engagement of the larger area of the Achilles tendon during each step. We have chosen the Airheel by Aircast because its unique bladder system moves air from the bottom of the foot to your Achilles Tendon creating a pulsating compression that can protect the injury but also stimulate blood flow.

Strength and Stretch Plan: Regaining strength and full range of natural motion will help you heal and can aid in prevention. This care kit includes a complete Strength and Stretch plan created by Mike Verplancke, DPT and will provide you with a widely accepted exercise program through booklet and video. To assist you with the exercises the kit also includes a Therapist Choice stretch strap and a five pack of resistance bands with increasing levels of resistance. The plan and tools replicate the activity Mike would recommend if you went to see him.

Fast Freeze: Your injury hurts and as you get back to activity your muscles will be sore. The Care Kit contains Fast Freeze, a powerful fast working topical analgesic that can give you relief with a simple spray and provide you with immediate relief .

About Achilles Tendonitis

Learn About Achilles Tendonitis and Care Kit

What is Achilles Tendonitis? It is the irritation and/or injury of the Tendon that connects the calf muscles to heal of your foot. This injury is usually a result of over use or a new activity such a start of a new season or new walking program. The symptoms are a tightness and pain in the heel and tenderness at the Achilles. The Achilles Tendon connects the heel to your powerful calf muscle and is what gives you the push off and jump. As a result, the Achilles tendon is the largest tendon in your body.

Cause

The Achilles tendon is designed to connect and transfer the power of your calf to the foot.  When the entire posterior chain (from the back of the leg to the foot) get tight and are overused, the Achilles tendon can get micro-tears and inflamed resulting in a Tendonitis. In extreme cases, the Achilles can even rupture. There are two types of Achilles tendonitis: insertional tendonitis, when the micro-tears occur where the tendon inserts at the top of the heal and non-insertional tendonitis, where it occurs in the middle of the tendon.

Symptoms

Some of the most common symptoms include.:

    • Pain and stiffness along the Achilles tendon in the morning
    • Pain along the tendon or back of the heel that worsens with activity
    • Severe pain the day after exercising
    • Thickening of the tendon
    • Bone spur (insertional tendinitis)
    • Swelling that is present all the time and gets worse throughout the day with activity
